Seasonally adjusted production in the construction sector rose by 2.2pc in the EU in March 2021 compared to the preceding month when EU construction fell by 2pc, according to Eurostat data. Civil engineering rose by 7.7pc and building construction increased by 1.1pc in March compared to February in the EU.
In annual terms, production in construction rose by 14.9pc in March 2021 in the EU. Civil engineering climbed by 19pc as building construction rose by 13.7pc in the EU in March 2021 against the same year-ago month.
EU annual inflation rose to 2pc in April 2021, up 0.3pc points from 1.7pc in March. GDP growth in the EU fell by 0.4pc in Q1 2021, yet employment fell by 0.3pc in the same period compared to the previous quarter.
EU export of goods to the world rose by 10.6pc to €195.1billion in March 2021 against the same month in 2020, allowing a €18.8bn surplus in trade in March. Intra-EU trade climbed by 23.5pc to €303.7bn in March 2021 compared to the same year-ago month.
