Chinese automaker Evergrande Hengchi New Energy Vehicle or Evergrande Auto is planning to build an auto parts manufacturing plant in Shanghai with an annual capacity of 100,000 units, according to media reports citing the Environmental Information Release Platform of Shanghai Enterprises and Institutions.
The plant will produce large-sized outer panels, core stamping parts, car body assembly, and other types of auto parts upon completion and supply it to its vehicle production facilities. The plant will include workshops for stamping, car body manufacturing, painting, and color register, as well as an engineering technology center, a technology exhibition center, and a reception center.
Earlier this month, the company had announced the commencement of trial production at its Shanghai and Guangzhou vehicle production plants. As per media reports, both plants are expected to produce one vehicle per minute when their capacities become fully operational.
The company also plans to start the production of its Hengchi-branded vehicles in the second half of 2021.
Evergrande Auto said it aims to build its electric vehicle production capacity to 1mn units by 2025, and 5mn units by 2035.
