EVRAZ North America (NA) is restarting its seamless pipe mill in Pueblo, Colorado in April 2021. As a result, the company has recalled some of the nearly 200 employees that were previously laid off in April and May 2020 when the mill segment shut down as oil prices and steel demand dropped rapidly. Employees will return in stages with about half returning for training this week and an additional 40-50 in the coming weeks.
Customers restarted placing orders which accelerated the site’s reopening. The site supplies high-quality oil country tubular goods (OCTG) to the oil and gas industry. The EVRAZ Rocky Mountain Steel site has four manufacturing facilities including steelmaking, rail mill, bar mill, and the now reopened seamless pipe mill.
