Russian recyclers exported 1.01mn mt of ferrous scrap in January-March 2021 compared to 1.10mn mt in Q1 2020, according to Russian Customs data. The volume declined after Russia increased the export duty on ferrous scrap to €45/mt, but no lower than 5pc.
Russian suppliers shipped 395,000mt of the material to Turkey during the period under review, along with 269,000mt and 242,000mt to South Korea and Belarus, respectively.
In March 2021, Russian recyclers exported 141,000mt of ferrous scrap, down by 67pc compared to the same month a year ago.
