Ferrexpo’s iron ore pellet production grew by 8.8pc to 3.8mn mt in the first four months of the year compared to 3.5mn mt during the same period in 2019. The miner’s iron ore pellet production in April was recorded at 1.06mn mt.
The company’s sales also increased by 28pc to 4.1mn mt from January-April compared to 3.2mn mt in the first four months of 2019.
According to Ferrexpo, lower energy prices led to lower production and logistics costs, which in turn increased output and sales volumes.
Headquartered in Switzerland, Ferrexpo mainly mines in the Paltova region of Ukraine with close to 20bn mt of iron ore resources and produced a total of 10.5mn mt of iron ore pellets in 2019.
