Fiat India and Tata Motor joint venture has resumed operations at its plant in Pune, Maharashtra. The plant has an annual production capacity of 160,000 cars and 350,000 engines.
Manufacturing at the unit remained suspended from March 22 amid COVID-19 lockdown. The company will be following government guidelines to continue operations.
The company’s supply chain is functioning well enabling the company to run operations smoothly according to the company official. Production would return to usual levels soon if the supply of parts and components continues to be available undeterred.
Several steel makers, OEMs and metals scrap sellers were waiting for the resumption of auto production for the creation of demand.
