Canada-based copper miner First Quantum Minerals has named Tristan Pascall as its new chief operating officer, effective from January 1, 2021.
Pascall will replace Clive Newall, who co-founded the company back in 1996. The latter has decided to step down from the position and remain with the firm as a director.
Pascall has been with the miner for more than 13 years and has served in various executive position including its Zambian operations. He recently served as the general manager for the Cobre Panama mine until January of this year after which he was appointed as the director of strategy in London.
First Quantum’s newest project, the Cobre Panama mine, has a proven reserve of 3.1mn mt and an annual production capacity of 300,000mt of copper.
