Sales of Ford vehicles in the United States fell 5.4pc in the first eight months of 2021, compared to the same period in 2020, the US manufacturer informed today in its monthly report.

 

Between January and August this year, Ford reported the sale of 1.24 million units in the US market, against the 1.31 million it sold in the first eight months of last year.

 

As for August, the company’s sales fell 33.1pc, to 124,176 vehicles from the 185,655 it sold in the eighth month of 2020.

 

By vehicle type, car sales suffered the biggest hit, with a drop of 62.5pc in the January-August period, to 53,106 units from 141,505 cars sold in the same period a year ago.

 

In August, car sales fell 86pc to 2,369 units from 16,864 in the same month of 2020.

 

Ford reported a total output of 1.29 million vehicles between January and August of this year in the United States, with 226,065 of those vehicles produced in the eighth month of the year.
