Ford’s manufacturing plant in Craiova, Romania is indicated to produce electric cars in the coming years, according to local media.
Stuart Rowley, president of Ford Europe has apparently suggested that the Romania plant may produce EVs in the coming years, as reported by Romanian media.
Ford’s strategy to reduce carbon dioxide emissions is one of the reasons behind the shift to electric vehicles. Recently, Ford Europe has announced that all vehicles for Europe will be electric by 2030 and is investing $1bn in its Cologne plant in Germany to support the EV strategy. Ford Romania is operated by Ford of Europe, headquartered in Cologne, Germany.
Ford Romania has the capacity to produce 300,000 units in a year. Ford of Europe believes that by 2030, two-thirds of its commercial vehicle sales will be plug-in hybrid or pure electric car. The company will produce its first electric car in 2023.
