Greg Lilleyman, chief operating officer of Fortescue Metals Group (FMG), has resigned from his position with immediate effect, the company informed on Tuesday.
In a release by the company, Elizabeth Gaines, chief executive officer of FMG, said that the Iron Bridge magnetite project had “lost sight of its critical focus,” because of which FMG warranted a change in top-level management during a project review, leading to resignations by Lilleyman along with Don Hyma, director Projects, and Manie McDonald, director Iron Bridge.
Derek Brown, who currently works as the general manager of the Solomon project, will be appointed as acting director of projects while the company looks to replace the vacant positions. A detailed review of the Iron Bridge project will be part of the company’s half-yearly earnings, to be filed on Feb 18.
