Australian iron miner Fortescue has achieved a milestone of shipping out 1.5bn mt of iron ore from its Pilbara operations.

 

The company achieved this milestone less than three years after it shipped out 1bn mt of iron ore from the Pilbara operations from its Herb Elliott Port in Port Hedland. Since Pilbara’s establishment in 2003, its first shipment was in 2008 and most of the iron ore was shipped out to China, the company stated. 

 

Operations at Pilbara include Chichester Hub with a 100mn mt per annum production capacity, Solomon Hub with a 75mn mt per annum production capacity, and the Western Hub with a production capacity of 30mn mt per annum.
