Canada-based Fortuna Silver Mines’ lead production moved up by 3pc in 2020 to 29mn lbs while zinc production was flat at 45mn lbs from the previous year.
The company’s Caylloma Mine in Peru is the only one producing lead and zinc with silver and gold. The company has three operating mines in South America.
In the fourth quarter, lead and zinc production was at 8.42mn lbs and 12.43mn lbs, respectively. Lead production was up 3pc up to 29.62mn lbs in 2020, from 2019.
Production at Caylloma Mine was not impacted despite government restrictions and the company protocols related to COVID-19 in addition to a three-week suspension of operation in July 2020.
Guidance for Caylloma Mine is set at 530,000mn mt averaging 2.87pc of lead and 4.30pc of zinc. Capital investments are estimated at $21.7mn. Lead output is projected between 29-32mn lbs and zinc is forecast at 44-49mn lbs in the coming year.
