Brazilian steelmaker Gerdau’s total crude steel production fell by 2pc to 12.1mn mt in 2020 from 12.4mn mt in 2019.
Crude steel output in the Q4 2020, however, rose by 14pc to 3.3mn mt from 2.9mn mt in Q4 2019 and by 5pc from 3.2mn mt in Q3 2020. The company’s crude steel shipments also saw a 5pc drop to 11.4mn mt last year compared to 12mn mt in 2019. Its shipment in Q4 2020 rose by 5pc to 3.2mn mt from 3mn mt during the same quarter in 2019.
The firm’s net sales in 2020 increased by 11pc to BRL43.8bn ($8bn) from BRL39.6bn in the previous year. Its net sales in Q4 2020 surged by 43pc to BRL13.6bn from BRL9.5bn in Q4 2019. Gerdau’s adjusted EBITDA increased in 2020 by 34pc to BRL7.6bn from BRL5.7bn in 2019. Its adjusted EBITDA in the fourth quarter of last year rose by 169pc to BRL3bn from BRL1.1bn in Q4 2019.
