Germany’s crude steel output rose by 18.8pc to 23.6mn t (21.4mn mt) in the first seven months of 2021 compared to the same period in 2020, according to German Steel Federation (WV Stahl). In July, the nation’s crude steel output grew by 24.7pc to 3mn t compared to July 2020. 

 

Oxygen steel production increased by 21.2pc to 16.2mn t in January-July, compared to prior year period and in July, it rose by 26.8pc to 2.1mn t annually, WV Stahl noted. Production of electrical steel in the seven-month period rose by 13.8pc to 7.4mn t on an annual basis while its output in July saw a 19.9pc increase to 909,000t compared to July last year. 

 

In January-June, German production of pig iron grew by 20pc to 14.9mn t from the same period in 2020 while it was up by 25pc to 1.93mn t in July this year on an annual basis. Hot rolled steel production grew by 20.9pc to 21.1mn t in the first seven months of 2021 compared to same period in 2020 and output rose by 23.8pc to 2.8mn t in July 2021 on an annual basis.
