Germany’s crude steel production declined by 27.3pc to 2.5mn mt in June 2020 compared to the same month a year ago.
Year-to-date Germany’s crude steel production fell by 15.7pc to 17.5mn mt according to data from the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). Most of the production loss was in Q2 as output fell by 26pc over the same quarter last year.
Basic oxygen furnace (BOF) production stood at 1.5mn mt while electric arc furnace (EAF) production was 0.9mn mt, down 35.8pc and 7.3pc, respectively, compared with the same month a year ago. In H1 2020 BOF production decreased by 19pc compared to the same period last year while EAF output fell by 8.2pc during the same period under comparison.
Germany’s pig iron production decreased by 34.5pc to 1.5mn mt in June from the same month in 2019. In the first six months, the European country reduced its pig iron output by 18.2pc to 10.9mn mt compared to the same period a year ago.
Hot rolled production declined by 29.7pc to 2.1mn mt in June from the same month in 2019 and decreased by 15.1pc to 15.2mn mt in H1 2020 compared with the same period in 2019.
