German industrial production rose by 3.2pc on a monthly basis in October, a report from the Federal Statistics Office, Destatis, indicated. The report noted that production levels were still off by 4.9pc compared to February, before the COVID-19 pandemic struck.
Automotive production, one of the main sectors of the country’s economy, rose by 9.9pc in October compared with the previous month and was short by 6pc over February.
Intermediate goods output rose by 4pc while capital goods increased by 5.2pc in October compared with the previous month. Production of consumer goods declined by 2.4pc during the same period under review. Energy production outside the industry rose by 4pc in October while construction increased by 1.6pc in productivity, compared with September.
