Germany’s producer prices for services rose by 4.2pc in Q1 2021 to 109.5 compared to the same year-ago quarter, according to Germany’s Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). Prices climbed 2.4pc against Q4 2020.
The transportation and storage index rose by 9pc to 115.6 in Q1 2021 against the same quarter in 2020 and increased by 6.7pc compared to the preceding quarter. Transportation via sea and coastal shipping increased by 37.3pc to 138.5 in Q1 2021 against Q1 2020 and 38.4pc against the preceding quarter. Transportation by rail rose by a modest 0.5pc to 106.1 in the first quarter compared to the same quarter a year ago and only increased by 0.2pc against Q4 2020.
