The Ghana International Trade Commission announced that aluminium coils and circles from China are causing material injury to the Ghanaian industry after being dumped onto the Ghanaian domestic market.
Aluworks, the sole manufacturer of aluminium coils and circles in Ghana, submitted its complaint on May 8, 2019, urging Trade commission to investigate alleged dumping of coils and circles originating in or imported from China.
Trade commission said that the average dumping margin was 35.77pc for the subject product. The commission declared that the anti-dumping (AD) duties should be imposed on these product profiles originating in or imported from China covered under HS Codes 7606.91.10.00 aluminium plates, sheets, strip, of a thickness exceeding 0.2 mm.
Trade commission initiated action after Aluworks complained about the declines in its sales volumes, market share, return on investment, productivity, incoming cash flow, growth and utilisation of production capacity.
