Tony Hayward, chairman of Anglo-Swiss miner Glencore, has announced his exit from the company by early 2022 after serving one more term. Hayward added that Glencore has started looking for a suitable successor.

Hayward’s departure was anticipated since he has held a board position for nine years, which is more than the recommended period under the UK governance code, according to media reports.

This leadership change in Glencore is the third since December 2020, when the company announced that Gary Nagle will become the new chief executive officer (CEO), replacing Ivan Glasenberg. Glencore also appointed former Anglo-American CEO Cynthia Carroll as a new board director in February.
