The global alumina output in August marginally decreased from the prior month but increased by 2.59pc from the prior-year period. According to the data released by International Aluminium Institute (IAI), the global alumina output was recorded at 11.366mn mt in August 2020, up from 11.079mn mt in the prior-year period. The global alumina output was marginally up by 0.008pc from July 2020.
Across the seven regions, the alumina output dropped the most in South America by 9.03pc to 946,000mt in August 2020 from 1.04mn mt in the prior-year period.
Africa and Asia reported 26.50pc rise in the alumina production. The region (excluding China) reported 1.05mn mt of alumina output in August 2020, up from 830,000mt in the prior-year period.
Oceania recorded a 9.14pc rise in the alumina production at 1.79mn mt, from the prior-year period.
