Global primary aluminum production decreased in November 2019 to 5.19mn nt (4.71mn mt), down from 5.35mn nt in the prior month.
China’s production decreased by an estimated 100,000nt to 2.88mn nt from October. Compared to November 2018, China’s output saw an even more significant decrease and was down 5.26pc from 3.04mn nt during the same period last year.
North America’s production totaled 311,000nt in November, down by 1.61pc from Octobers’ 316,000nt, and by 2.25pc from 318,000nt in November 2018.
According to the latest World Aluminum data, countries belonging to the Gulf Cooperation Council produced 481,000nt of aluminum down 2.63pc from October’s 494,000nt. However production increased 12.55pc in this region from the same period last year.
Europe’s production decreased by 2.39pc in November compared to October and declined 2.55pc compared to the same month in 2018.
2019’s yearly primary aluminum production figures are set for release during the first week of Febuary, 2020.
