The global stainless steel consumption is expected to decline in 2020 by 7.8pc to 41.24mn mt from the previous year, according to the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF).
According to ISSF forecast, stainless steel consumption will resume in ‘V shape’ in the post-COVID scenario in 2021. Consumption of stainless steel is expected to rise then by 8pc to 45.45mn mt.
The COVID-19 pandemic impacted trade and economy, and consumers of stainless steel were hit by shutdowns, disrupted supply chains and freezing of consumption.
