GLR Advanced Recycling has expanded into broking non-ferrous material through its new business, GLR America.
GLR America focuses on purchasing mixed non-ferrous scrap loads and offers customer-friendly payment structures to suppliers, in light of the current tight-credit environment. Moreover, it will deal in large load volumes, including full truck load and container loads, for exports and the domestic market.
The business currently serves the US and Canada. Jay Mentzel, vice-president of metals at GLR, will head the new division.
GLR Advanced Recycling entered a strategic partnership with Padnos in 2018 after the latter bought a significant stake in the recycling firm. The company, which specializes in auto scrap, currently operates out of six locations in Michigan. It reportedly bought 50,000 auto bodies in 2019 and plans to increase this count to 70,000 units by the end of 2020.
