American automaker General Motors (GM) has decided to halt the production of the Corvette at its Bowling Green facility in Kentucky due to a shortage of parts that come in from Mexico.
In early October, this plant was shut for a week due to a similar problem. According to reports, the factory will be shut on Nov 11 and 12, resuming production on Monday. This is expected to delay the output of 540 Corvettes this week.
Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the facility, it has still managed to roll out 13,039 units of the model in the year till Oct 7. With this new halt in production, GM may not be able to meet its 20,000 unit production guidance for the car.
