General Motors plans to invest $40mn for the renovation of its Pontiac Stamping Plant in Michigan to support its push towards manufacturing electric vehicles.
The carmaker plans to install new fabrication machinery called the Flex Fab sheet metal fabricating technology for custom and precise stamping, which will help its EV manufacturing line, it said in a statement.
A General Motors spokesperson told Davis Index that the expansion would add 20 people to its workforce at the Pontiac plant, but did not disclose the expanded capacity of the plant.
