Frank Koch, chief executive officer (CEO) of German steelmaker GmH, will be joining the Swiss Steel group as the company’s CEO on July 1, 2021, six months earlier than initially planned.
Koch has reached an agreement with the GmH Group for an early release date and will replace Swiss Steel’s current chief executive officer Clemens Iller who will leave the company on Jun 30, Swiss Steel indicated in a statement on Mar 23.
Koch has been with the GmH Group since 2008 under various functions and took up the role as its chief executive officer in 2017. He began his career back in 1991 at thyssenkrupp’s steel division in the Deutsche Edelstahlwerke branch which is now a part of Swiss Steel. Koch also worked for Italian steel producer Danieli for a couple of years before he joined GmH.
Swiss Steel produces special alloy long steel products with close to 10,000 employees across 30 countries. The company’s sales volume in Q4 2020 increased by 14.7pc to 445,000mt from the same period in 2019.
