US-based miner Gold Resource’s copper, lead and zinc production increased at Oaxaca mine, Mexico in Q1 compared to the year prior. The company’s lead production was up 17pc in the March quarter (Q1) at 2,514mt from 2,153mt produced in the same quarter the prior year. Zinc production was 5,844mt, a marginal growth from 5,838mt produced in the prior year. Copper production stood at 488mt in Q1, up by 13pc from 433mt the prior year quarter.

Earlier on April 1, the company withdrew its 2020 production outlook as the Mexican government suspended all non-essential activities including mining until April 30 in the view of COVID-19 outbreak. 

 

A limited operational staff will be maintaining safety and environmental systems at the Oaxaca Mining Unit while it is under care and maintenance. The company’s goal is to ramp up production as quickly as possible once the suspension is lifted.
