Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Production and sales at Oregon-based railcar manufacturer, Greenbrier, declined in the fiscal year and Q4 ended August 31, 2020.

 

The manufacturer received 16,600 orders in FY 2021, down 24pc from the opening orders for FY 2020. During the fiscal, the company produced 18,525 units, down 4pc from the prior year. Leased railcar sales fell short by 15pc in this period to 3,175 units, with total deliveries tallying 7.8pc lower at 21,700 units. 

 

In the fourth quarter, Greenbrier’s production declined by 30pc to 4,200 units over the same quarter last fiscal. Leased sales also halved to 900 railcars, with total deliveries falling short by 43pc to 5,100 units. 

 

For the full year, Greenbrier recorded a revenue of $2.8bn, down from $3bn in the prior fiscal. The company’s net profits declined to $48.9mn, compared with $71mn in the same period under comparison.
