Gujarat has unveiled a four-year electric vehicle (EVs) roadmap with a $117.27mn subsidy plan, according to media reports.
The state plans to have around 200,000 vehicles on the road in these four years with a $134.79/kWh subsidy from the total subsidy plan of $117.27mn.
The state has also waived off EV registration fees to attract potential buyers. The roadmap is a part of the union government’s plan to hasten EV adoption and manufacturing. The new incentives will be added to the existing incentives of the FAME scheme.
The new EV policy provides customers with a subsidy of $269.58 for two-wheelers, $673.96 for three-wheelers, and $2021.87 for four-wheelers priced below $20,218.71. The customers will get the subsidies directly in their beneficiary account.
Companies like Hero Electric, Tata Motors have hailed the new policy for affordable pricing and infrastructure development for EVs.
