Australia-based GWR Group Limited and joint venture partner Pilbara Resource Group (PRG) are on track to ship the first iron ore from the C4 iron deposit located in Western Australia by late January 2021, the GRW Group said in a statement.
The C4 deposit is part of the Wiluna West Iron Ore Project and has a mineral resource estimate of 21.6mn mt at 60.7pc iron.
The company said that the high-grade iron ore lumps and fines from the C4 deposit are currently being stockpiled at the Geraldton Port.
The iron ore will be sent via a cargo ship called ‘PANAFRICAN’, which is expected to be loaded and sent before the end of the month.
The company is also is completing a review of the entire Wiluna West Project, commencing with an assessment and modeling to increase the production at the C4 deposit.
GWR has also received mining approvals for the C3 and Bowerbird deposits, which allows mining of a combined 7mn mt per annum apart from the C4 deposit.
Under the joint venture, GWR is required to provide minimal Capex and Opex and will retain a 70pc share in the project profit as well as retaining the rights for ore sales, strategy, and timing, while PRG is engaged for Stage 1 of the C4 mining operations which covers the
first 1mt mt.
