Australian explorer and miner GWR Group’s first iron ore shipment from its C4 operation in Western Australia was delivered on Hong Kong port. The ship had earlier encountered haulage issues amid harsh weather conditions, according to local media reports citing a statement by the company.

The company shipped 52,425mt of premium high-grade lump iron ore as a part of an offtake agreement signed with Hong Kong trader Pacific Minerals.

The company is expected to send the second shipment later this month aboard the cargo ship MV Marinicki.

The company said that its mined ore output in the first two months of the year grew by 30pc from the period-year period. The production at C4 operation is now at 90pc of its total capacity.

Expansion

The company is also planning for a pit expansion at the C4 operation to increase mining, crushing, and haulage, which would result in increased production. The expansion is a part of Phase 2 of the C4 operation expansion. The C4 operation is part of GWR’s Wiluna West direct shipping ore (DSO) iron ore development project.
