China’s Hebei Iron and Steel company (HBIS) will supply 20,000 mt of 100-meter heavy rails to the Shanghai Railways, according to Chinese Metal Society. These rails will be used for a railroad connectivity between Beijing Shanghai and Shanghai Kunming lines.
Of the total, HBIS has delivered 8,300mt of rails to the Shanghai Railway Bureau. HIBS’s Handan plant is the first in China to introduce 100 meters heavy rails with quenching technology. At present, HBIS rails are widely used for China’s main railway lines, special railway lines and urban rail projects. These are also exported to Brazil, Pakistan and other countries under belt and road initiative.
