Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Heritage Battery Recycling (HBR) has partnered with energy technology company Romeo Power to set up a battery recycling facility in the southwestern USA.

The facility will prepare used lithium-ion batteries for reuse or recycling, the Heritage Group and Heritage Environmental Services (Heritage), the parent companies of HBR, said in a statement on Feb 10.

Under this partnership, Romeo will provide the technology systems while HBR will use its safe processing expertise to recycle these batteries that are used in electric vehicles. Through this plant, the company plans to focus on providing end-of-life battery solutions for electric commercial truck manufacturers, commercial fleet managers, and businesses that are investing in clean energy.

Jeff Laborsky, chief executive officer at Heritage, added that HBR has collaborated with its sister company Heritage-Crystal Clean for transportation and logistics support for the company’s battery collection operations across North America.

Together, Crystal Clean, which is a vehicle services provider, and HBR have 108 locations across North America.
