Heidtman Steel is partnering with TNT Pipe and Tube to expand its facility in Erie, Michigan, with a private investment of $9.1mn.
According to a news release last week, the expansion involves building a steel tube milling facility on the grounds of Heidtman’s existing plant in Erie. A steel galvanizing unit will also built in nearby Monroe, serving TNT’s existing recreational vehicle customers based in Indiana.
It will also provide 65 high-paying jobs in a $325,000 performance-based grant under the Michigan Business Development Program.
The Bedford Township of Monroe has offered a 50pc property tax rebate to qualify itself above a competing site in Indiana.
