Hindalco’s aluminium production increased by 2pc to 327,000mt in Q4 FY2020 ending March compared to the prior-year period. In FY2020, aluminium output stood at 1.3mn mt, an uptick of 1pc from the prior year.
Hindalco’s all four aluminium smelters continue to operate with a minimum workforce, exporting 80pc of its production. Market demand for downstream products remains low.
The company’s output of aluminium value-added products stood at 79,000mt in Q4, down by 3pc from 81,000mt in the prior-year period.
Aluminium sales in the fourth quarter fell by 3pc to 314,000mt from 325,000mt in Q4 FY2019. Sales in FY 2020, however, rose by 1pc to 1.29mn mt from 1.27mn mt in FY 2019.
Copper
Copper production in Q4 dropped by 4.5pc to 210,000mt from 220,000mt in the prior-year period. Sales dropped by 14pc to 86,000mt from 100,000mt in the prior-year period.
Profit after tax for the Q4 FY 2020 stood at Rs6,680mn, a decline of 44pc from Rs11,780mn in the prior-year period.
