Japanese truck manufacturer Hino Motors has decided to suspend production of its vehicles in Canada and the US until September next year.
According to the company’s media statement, its factories in West Virginia, US, and Woodstock, Canada will remain shut for an extended period since the engines used in its Class 7 and Class 8 trucks failed to meet emissions and fuel consumption regulations in both the countries.
Notably, the factories were already working at half their capacity, producing about 8,000 units this year, compared to 17,100 units in 2019. The company plans to resume production and sales in October 2021.
