Vietnam’s Hoa Phat Dung Quat port’s loading was 8mn mt in Jan to July 2020 recording over two-fold rise from the prior-year period.  Hoa Phat Group’s production and business activity could recover well after the country relaxed its COVID-19 lockdown measures.

 

The group believes its output could cross 3.5-3.6mn mt, in keeping with its guidance on 2020 production. The production could be supported by demand in the export market.

 

According to a statement, the port’s cargo handling capacity has reached the maximum level. Vessels with a capacity of 200,000mt can also easily dock at the port. On July 31, 2020, wharf 11th saw the arrival of the LowLands Erica with a tonnage of 176,000mt carrying raw ore from Brazil to Hoa Phat in Vietnam. This has been the largest vessel to dock at the port.

 

In the period, the company imported commodities like coal, iron ore, limestone, and dolomite, accounting for 73pc of total imports of 6mn mt via port this port, according to the press release.

 

Hoa Phat steel has exported 256,500mt of construction steel in the period, up by 73.3pc from the prior year. The main export markets consisted of Japan, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Australia, Canada, Thailand, and Cambodia.

 

Finished products and semi-finished products such as rebar, coil, billet, and blast furnace slag were the most exported items.
