Vietnamese steelmaker Hoa Phat plans to increase steel wire-rod production capacity at its Kinh Mon Steel Complex.

The company has placed two orders with equipment manufacturer Danieli. The first is for a new wire-rod rolling line, and the second is for a new six-pass finishing block for bar and wire-rods.

Hoa Phat plans to produce reinforced steel wires with 8-14mm diameter and smooth steel wires, 5.5-16mm in diameter to maximize coil characteristics. The new finishing block will make rolling mills #3 and #4 two separate units, thus increasing Kinh Mon’s total production capacity. Danielli will also supply the power and control systems for the new wire-rod line.

The complex currently produces 500,000mt of crude steel per year which is then fed to the downstream rolling mills.
