Japanese auto manufacturer Honda Motor Company’s Chinese unit’s total sales in January 2021 stood at 157,457 units, up by 4.8pc from the same month in 2020, registering growth for the seventh consecutive month, according to a statement by the company.
The sales in January were driven by the increase in sales of Dongfeng Honda, a joint venture Dongfeng Motor, which grew by 22.5pc to 90,136 units compared to January 2020.
The company’s joint venture with GAC Group called GAC Honda registered a decline of 12.2pc, selling around 67,321 units in January from the year before.
In 2020, the company’s sales stood at 1.62mn units, its highest-ever annual sales in China. Sales of the Accord, the CR-V, and the Civic brands surpassed 200,000 units in the period. The company has not yet announced its target sales for 2021.
