Honda plans to achieve a 100pc electric vehicle (EV) sales in North America, China and Japan by 2040 with close to JPY5000bn ($46.3bn)in research and development investment over the net six years.
The Japanese car maker will increase its EV sales in North America and China to 40pc by 2030, 80pc by 2035 and 100pc by 2040. In Japan the firm targets an EV sales sales increase to 20pc by 2030, to 80pc by 2035 and 100pc by 2040, it said in a statement.
General Motors and Honda are strategic partners for research and development and will team up to achieve this target by 2040.
