Honda UK plans to resume production at its Swindon plant on Dec 14 after it was temporarily shut due to a parts shortage.
A transport-related delay of parts due to the COVID-19 lockdown in the UK led to the plant’s closure on Dec 9. The plant can produce 160,000 units per year of the petrol and diesel variant of the automaker’s Civic sedan model.
Honda decided in August to shut down the UK plant by July 2021 and move production of the Civic model back to Japan after the two countries began negotiating an import tariff waiver after Brexit.
