Aluminum maker Hydro has joined hands with Elonroad, an electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure startup, for a three-year project to supply extruded aluminum profiles.
These products, also known as road profiles, will be used to construct roads for charging EVs while they are driven or parked.
This trial road will be operational by the end of this month. To date, Hydro has supplied 500 meters of road profiles and 500 meters of electrified rods for the project. Hydro had not responded to Davis Index on the volume of aluminium being supplied by the company for this project across three years, at the time of publication.
However, the company said in a statement that its aluminum manufacturing plant in Vetlanda started supplying this product at the beginning of this year for a 1,000 meter trial road that Elonroad is constructing in Lund, Sweden.
