Sales at Hyundai Motors and its affiliate Kia Motors in the US rose by 65pc to a combined total of 170,315 units in May compared to 103,436 units in the same month last year.
According to media reports, Hyundai’s sales in the US increased by 56pc to 90,017 units last month from 57,619 units in May 2020 while Kia’s US sales grew by 75pc to 80,298 units from 45,817 units in the same period.
The companies attributed the increase in sales to their SUV sector that witnessed robust demand last month, per media reports.
In January-June, the carmakers’ overall sales rose by 47pc to 644,695 units from 437,929 units in the same timeframe in 2020.
