Domestic aluminium scrap prices fluctuated according to its availability in different regions across India. Market participants continued to order more scrap on the back of the pent-up demand from the alloy manufacturers. Those in Delhi reported a shortage of old cast or Tense and extrusion scrap. The manufacturers struggled to procure more scrap to fulfil demand for aluminium alloys in the domestic market in addition to catering to the exports market of China and Japan.
The weekly Davis Indexes for the domestic old cast (Purja/Tense) Tuesday rose by Rs1,000/mt($13.54/mt) to settle at Rs101,000/mt del Delhi consumer, and Rs94,000/mt del Mumbai consumer, down by Rs500/mt.
The weekly Davis Index for domestic Taint/Tabor (old sheet) settled at Rs106,833/mt del Delhi consumer, down by Rs1,334/mt. Davis index heard Taint/Tabor with 1 per cent attachment is available at Rs112,000/mt in the national capital region (NCR) and Rs104,000/mt in Ahmedabad, but traders in other areas did not confirm trades at this level. In Mumbai, the weekly Davis Index for domestic Taint/Tabor (old sheet) settled Rs107,500/mt del consumer, up by Rs2,000/mt, on sustained demand.
The weekly Davis Indexes for aluminium EC wire in Delhi on Tuesday remained unchanged at Rs138,000/mt del consumer while it went down by Rs 1,000/mt in Mumbai to settled at Rs134,000/mt del consumer. A shortage of EC wire scrap has been reported in Kolkata.
The weekly Davis Indexes for aluminium utensil settled at Rs112,000/mt del Delhi consumer, down by Rs1,000/mt, and in Mumbai, rose to Rs107,500/mt del consumer, up by Rs2,000/mt on the improved availability of scrap.
