India has decided to extend anti-dumping (AD) duty on certain alloy or non-alloy steel and iron seamless tubes, pipes and hollow profile imports from China, according to local media reports.

 

The AD duty has been extended to October 31 to limit the low-priced Chinese imports unless revoked, amended or superseded by the government. The duty does not apply to seamless tubes, pipes and hollow profiles made of cast iron or stainless steel. 

 

The dumping duty was initiated in May 2016 for five years for Chinese imports of the certain pipes whether cold drawn, cold rolled or hot finished of an external diameter not exceeding 355.6mm. 

 

The Directorate General of Trade Remedies conducted a sunset review anti-dumping duty investigation on import of Seamless Tubes, Pipes & Hollow Profiles of Iron, Alloy or Non-Alloy Steel originating in or exported from China was initiated in February. The extension has thereafter been levied by the finance ministry.
