Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

India’s weekly imported aluminium scrap prices remained flat amid subdued demand. Only 10pc of usual buyers enquired for the material. 

 

The weekly Davis Index for A356 wheels (Troma) Friday settled at $1,290/mt cfr India port and the weekly index for Tense settled at $980/mt cfr India port, both unchanged from a week ago. The index for 6063 aluminium extrusion scrap settled at $1,320/mt cfr India port, up by $20/mt, and the index for HRB Taint/Tabor 3-5pc attachment settled at $1,020/mt cfr India port, up by $7/mt from a week ago. 

 

The weekly index for ADC12 cfr China port settled at $1,397/mt, Friday, down by $4/mt. Demand for the secondary aluminium alloy is steadily balanced by a lack of aluminium scrap supply in China along with a rise in imports of primary aluminium in May. The country imported 18,314mt of primary aluminium in May, five times the import volume from the prior-year period after China’s importers 

exhausted their scrap import quotas.

 

The official three-month LME aluminium contract settled at $1,563/mt, Thursday, down by 2.8pc from a week ago.
