India’s Directorate-General for Trade Remedies (DGTR) could recommend the continuation of anti-dumping (AD) duties on cold-rolled flat stainless-steel products of width 600-1,250mm and above imported from China and South Korea.
The AD levied could be in the range of 5.9pc to 57.39pc for five years starting from the date of notification issued by the Ministry of Finance based on DGTR’s recommendations.
A sunset review on the existing duties on imports from Taiwan, US, EU, South Africa, Thailand, China, and South Korea was carried out by DGTR after major stainless steel firms in India, Jindal Stainless Steel, Jindal Hissar, and Jindal Stainless Steelway sought import protection for domestic markets.
DGTR recommended lifting AD on imports of cold-rolled flat stainless products from Taiwan, the US, EU, South Africa, and Thailand. Investigations suggested insufficient evidence to continue the AD rates on imports from these countries.
