Shipbreaking scrap prices in Alang remained flat on Friday as demand from the rolling mills continued to be sluggish.
The daily Davis Indexes for 4Ani and 6Ani remained unchanged at Rs26,350/mt ($382.89/mt) and Rs27,400/mt ($389.65/mt) ex-Alang, respectively. A few trades were heard at the index price.
The daily Davis Indexes for 12Ani and 14Ani settled flat at Rs29,100/mt and Rs29,200/mt ex-Alang, respectively.
The daily Davis Indexes for 1kg, 2kg plate ad 5kg plates settled flat at Rs25,700/mt, Rs26,950/mt ex-Alang and Rs27,950/mt ex-Alang, respectively, amid slow demand from end-users.
The daily Davis Index for HMS attachments and Melting dropped by Rs300/mt ($4.03/mt) each to Rs25,300/mt ($339.9/mt) and Rs24,300/mt ($326.5.mt) ex-Alang, respectively.
Shipbreakers expect the prices to increase in the coming week as Mandi traders look to book large quantities ahead of festive season.
