Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Indian shipbreaking prices remained mixed on Monday amid moderate demand from the re-rollers in Mandi Gobindgarh and Gujarat. The daily Davis Indexes for 6Ani and 12Ani rose by Rs100/mt ($1.35/mt) each to Rs29,400/mt ($398.32/mt) and Rs31,350/mt ($424.74/mt) ex-Alang, respectively. Trades were reported at the index price.

 

Among other rolling scrap grades, the daily Davis Indexes for 0.5kg and 1kg plates rose by Rs200/mt each to Rs28,800/mt and Rs28,700/mt ex-Alang. A few transactions were reported at the index price.

 

Amid road blockades in the North due to farmers’ protest over Farm Bill coupled with shortage of trucks to transport surplus material, the shipbreakers had to reduce offers to stimulate sales. The daily Davis Index for HMS attachments and Melting dropped by Rs100/mt each to Rs28,700/mt and Rs27,700/mt, ex-Alang, respectively, with transactions reported at the index price.
