Indian shipbreaking prices continued to remain mixed on Thursday amid slow demand. The daily Davis Indexes for 4Ani and 12Ani declined by Rs100/mt ($1.355/mt) each to Rs29,100/mt and Rs31,750/mt ex-Alang ($430.51/mt), respectively.
The daily Davis Index for 8Ani rose marginally by Rs50/mt to settle at Rs30,850/mt ex-Alang.
Among other rolling scrap grades, the daily Davis Indexes for 0.5kg and 1kg plates declined by Rs50/mt each to Rs 28,800/mt and Rs28,700/mt ex-Alang, while the index for 5kg plates settled flat at Rs30,100/mt with a few transactions were reported at the index price.
The daily Davis Index for HMS attachments remained unchanged at Rs28,700/mt ex-Alang, while the index for Melting declined by Rs100/mt to Rs27,700/mt. Limited transactions were reported at the index price.
The shipbreakers expect the prices to rise further, while demand is likely to remain weak at least until January 2021.
